Abstract:
Resource Conservation and Development (RCD) areas were created by merging polgyons from a 1:100,000-scale TIGER county coverage. This information came from the page 78 of the 1993 Conservation District Directory published by the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation.

RCD areas are regions which have an RCD council, a non-profit partnership between public and private agencies that administer grants for projects that conserve and develop natural resources. The Natural Resources Conservation Service maintains a web page about Montana's RCD areas at http://www.mt.nrcs.usda.gov/partnerships/rcd.html.

These data are from the GIS collection of the Montana State Digital Library Archive. The data were removed from the State Library's Natural Resource Information System (NRIS) web site when we were informed that these district boundaries were out of date.
